The Problem
Jury management is a huge part of the equation but often neglected by case management vendors
Summonses go out, most of them come back with a reason, a fraction of the remainder appear, and someone reconciles all of it by hand while a courtroom waits. The work is not complicated. It is relentless, and it is almost entirely administrative.
JPM is a browser-based system that takes the administrative half of jury operations off the staff who should be running the panel. Everything below happens against one juror record: the draw that selected them, the questionnaire they returned, the days they served and the payment they are owed.
The point of jury software
Nobody buys jury software to manage jurors. They buy it so judges can effectively do their job.
What it does
From the annual draw to the final payment
The law enforcement edition carries records forward from the incident into the justice process, and back again.
Annual jury draw
Random selection from the juror pool, customized to your jurisdiction's requirements, with the selection method recorded — because the fairness of the draw is the part that gets challenged.
Jury term management
Create and maintain jury terms and service records so juror assignments track accurately across the year.
Online questionnaires
Design, update, distribute and complete juror questionnaires online from templates. Responses land directly in the system rather than in a tray.
Check-in
Juror check-in by PC, tablet or kiosk, staff-assisted or self-service. Jurors can check themselves in through the portal.
Seating chart
An interactive seating chart for updating panel arrangements — most useful during voir dire, when the arrangement changes faster than anyone can write it down.
Attendance and payment
Attendance is logged, records are finalized, and payment obligations are calculated from attendance. Tiered payment rates by service duration or other criteria are configurable.
The juror portal
Most jurors will only ever see this part
The juror-facing portal is where a summoned citizen completes a questionnaire, checks their reporting status and checks in on the day. For most people it is their only interaction with the court, and it is the interaction that shapes what they tell everyone else about the experience.
-
Complete and submit the questionnaire online rather than on paper.
-
Check reporting status and service dates without calling the court.
-
Self check-in on the reporting day.
Standalone or Connected
JPM can run alongside CPM, sharing identity and scheduling, or on its own for a court running another case system.
Deployment
Browser-based, hosted or local
A prosecutor's file and a public defender's file describe the same case and must never see each other. That is a configuration and security problem, not an argument for three products from three vendors.
Hosted
Run as a hosted service so a small court is not standing up infrastructure for a system used in bursts.
On premises
Deployed inside your own environment where local control or existing infrastructure makes that the sensible answer.
Alongside CPM
Sharing the same platform, identity and scheduling, so a jury trial's calendar conflicts are visible to the same people who schedule everything else.
Jury week is the demonstration.
Show us how a summons becomes a paid juror in your court today. That walk-through usually finds three days of work a year nobody had counted.
